HIV positive infants and children is the most difficult group to find access to
?--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I work with a Local NGO involved in Nutritional Care for PLWHA.
The group of children born to HIV positive mothers especially those aged
above 6 months is the most difficult group to find access to. Even our
experience is based on a very few contacts. although our work is done
through networking with bigger NGOs giving care and support to PLWHA,
children and care givers of these children are the most difficult groups to
meet. Most of the time they do not attend the group meetings for PLWHA
which are the easiest places to meet PLWHA to give them information and also to listen to them.
I think we need to make a special effort to meet children and their care givers. It is again also difficult to find caregivers/service providers who have interest in nutritional care because this is the area which has been receiving very little attention.
