Dear Colleagues,

The following is the introduction to the pediatric HIV nutrition survey that I mentioned on this list-serv.  Please consider completing the survey, we would like to learn from you!

In response to new and emerging nutritional issues in pediatric HIV care, the HIV/AIDS National Resource Center (NRC) at the Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Center (FXB), University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), has developed a survey to capture current approaches to the nutritional management of infants, children, and adolescents with HIV infection.    

This e-mail message contains a link to this survey about pediatric HIV/AIDS nutrition strategies and considerations of care. With funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB), the NRC will collect, analyze and summarize the creative and successful strategies that providers have implemented.  This survey seeks to discover current components of assessment and nutritional problems, to identify factors that influence care decisions, and describe useful methods or strategies for nutrition education.  The ultimate goal of the survey is to create a useful clinician support tool. 

This survey is being distributed to all of the Title IV lead program sites in the United States, to numerous international FXB affiliates, and on the Pronut-HIV list-serv; a summary report will be available if respondents are interested.

Instructions for completing the questionnaire:

1.	Please choose the healthcare professional that provides the most nutrition education for your program to complete this online survey by Monday, April 28, 2003.  The survey should take about 20 - 30 minutes to complete. 

2.	You can access the survey by this direct link at:

Please copy the address in your web browser if you cannot open the link by clicking on it. 

3.  The country of origin list in the survey is confusing because we have expanded the list beyond our original convenience sample countries. You will see an initial alphabetized list of countries and then below it is a whole new list of countries in alphabetical order. Please excuse this awkward set-up, and please check off the "other" box if we did not include your country (and accept an even bigger apology). 

All information gathered in this survey will remain strictly confidential.  The results presented will be aggregate in nature, and will have no information that identifies the source of individual information.  The proposal has been evaluated and approved by the UMDNJ Institutional Review Board (IRB).  Participation is voluntary.
