[pronut-hiv] Infant Formula in PMTCT Programs: Art & Science Presentation

LINKAGES is pleased to present, as part of its Art and Science of
Breastfeeding Presentation Series, "Should free infant formula be
distributed in PMTCT Programs? The UNICEF Experience." The presentation
will provide valuable guidance for agencies and governments that are
considering using free or subsidized formula in PMTCT programs.

-What proportion of women decided to formula feed?
-What counsel did health workers give women on infant feeding?
-Did caregivers properly prepare and store infant formula?
-Did formula feeding "spill over" to HIV-negative women?
-What measures did UNICEF take to ensure that infant formula was
distributed in compliance with the International Code of Marketing of
Breastmilk Substitutes?
-What are the implications for the transition to a replacement diet
after 6 months?
