[pronut-hiv] WHO Integrated Curriculum on Infant and Young Child Feeding Counselling

This curriculum combines WHO's 5-day course on breastfeeding for mid-level health workers with their 3-day course on HIV and infant feeding (which assumes that participants have already taken the 5-day course) and a recently developed 3-day course on complementary feeding. In theory it can be given in 5 days but it includes guidelines for how to do follow up after the training, in recognition of the fact that this is too much to learn very well in only five days.

It is in the form of 5 cd's but has not yet been finalized and thus has not been formally released yet. The Elisabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation in Cote d'Ivoire has adapted it to the Ivorian national policies (which mainly involves leaving out training about infant feeding options not offered to HIV+ mothers there), translated into French, and the course will held there in French for the first time (which may involve making further modifications in it) in the coming month or two.

Those who don't feel that they can wait until it is formally released should write and WHO in Geneva and at the relevant regional office will decide whether to release it in advance for use on an individual basis.
