Member States of the World Health Organization adopted the
International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes twenty-
five years ago with the aim to protect, promote and support
appropriate infant and young child feeding practices. The adoption
of the Code was a key milestone in global efforts to improve
breastfeeding, and countries have taken action to implement and
monitor the Code and subsequent relevant Health Assembly
resolutions. This booklet of Frequently Asked Questions aims to
increase awareness and understanding of how the Code can help to
ensure that mothers and caregivers are able to make fully-informed
choices of how best to feed their infants, free of commercial
interest.
