Nominations Invited for International Gates Award for Global Health
Deadline: October 31, 2006
Established in 2000 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
( http://www.gatesfoundation.org/ ), the International Gates
Award for Global Health annually recognizes an organization that
has made a major and lasting contribution to the field of global
health. The award program is administered by the Global Health
Council ( http://www.globalhealth.org/ ).
The $1 million award was established to reward organizations that
have developed processes for improving health, especially in
resource-poor settings, with measurable results. The Gates Award
recognizes past achievements and the promise of continuing
activity and improvement.
Any organization from any country in the world that has substan-
tively improved the health and the lives of people in need may
be nominated for the award; the organization may be a charitable
institution, a private company, or a public entity.
The award will be presented on May 31, 2007, in Washington, D.C.,
at a special awards ceremony during the Global Health Council's
Annual International Conference.
The 2007 online nomination for the Gates Award for Global Health
is available at the Global Health Council's Web site.
