Please post this job ad for dietician to support ARV service delivery in
Durban
  
The RHRU is providing support to the KZN Dept of Health in
implementation of ARV services at public sector health facilities. The
following opportunity exists for a dynamic individual who is interested
in the field of Nutrition Management for HIV & TB patients. 
 
DIETICIAN - Durban
 
The incumbent will be responsible for nutrition management and
counseling to adults and children at selected public sector ARV sites
within eThekwini health district. After assessing nutritional needs at
the site(s), he/she will provide support and  advice to ARV and HIV/AIDS
clinical service provision (including mentoring, operationalisation,
referral, and data collection).  He/she may also participate in and
develop research projects if appropriate, in agreement with the STI/HIV
Director. Sessional/part-time contracts will be considered.
 
Duties
.Nutrition counselling and support for HIV/AIDS and
TB patients with emphasis on nutrition assessment, recording,
interpretation of assessments
.Ensuring that facilities have adequate supplies of
supplements
.Participation in training PHC staff in nutrition
management for patients with HIV/AIDS and TB
.Liaising with other staff members responsible for
implementation of the ART plan 
.Regular reporting of progress and consultation
with senior RHRU staff and provide reports to senior management team
 
Requirements:  
.BSC in Dietetics and registration with the
relevant Health Professions Council.  
.Knowledge of nutrition management for adults and
children with HIV/AIDS and TB
.Skills in Nutrition Assessment and Research
Methods
.Knowledge in monitoring and evaluation of the
programme 
.Good training and communication skills
.Knowledgeable about the integrated Nutrition
Programme
 
Other Requirements/Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including
presentation skills
Ability to work in a diverse team.
Above average computer skills, particularly in MS Outlook, MS Powerpoint
and MS Word
Experience in dealing with provincial and local health authorities
Drivers licence
