In your August 7th release, the study which was done in Uganda to evaluate the impact of different modalities of infant feeding on HIV transmission in children in a prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) program in an urban hospital in Uganda reported its findings and I noted the following
1. Reduced risk of transmission among formula-fed infants
2. No significant difference between exclussively breast-fed and mixed-fed infants.

Whereas the first one is obvious and expected, I am not comfortable with the second one. if there was really no significant difference between the EBF and MFrisks, then it means that even those who claimed to practice EBF could have been mixing with other foods and this calls for further investigation. otherwise this finding is likely to overturn the recommendation in the nutritional guidelines for people PLWHA.
